almost harvest 2017

De oogst van 2017 komt eraan!
Alles wat vroeger door het warme voorjaar en de hete zomer.
Maar ze zijn mooi afgerijpt door de nachtkoelte van de laatste maand.
Minder kilos door de droogte en gebrrk aan wat buien, maar de kwaliteit is super.
Wordt een goed jaar. Saluut!

De grapes are flowering at the moment. Nearly to see. This week Vitec taking leaf samples to see everything is oke with the plants.

The flowering of the olives is more pronounced. With nice vieuws over the siurana vallei.

Poda verd

We are now doing the Poda verd.  Regulating the excess growth of the vines. See the foto the differences. The vines are excessive growers, and regulating is important for the wine quality.

Rasors or Navajas

Those shelfs you see on the coastline. 
Often  on the Holland coast. 
Are verry nice to eat!
The catch these shelfs in the sandline of the coast itself, and sell them to Spain.
The Dutch do not eat these shelfs, but the can be tasty!

The recipe for a tasty tapa:

Rinse the shelf in water, the can contain a lot of sand.
Heat olive oil extra vergine in a pan, and put the shelfs in it, 
Put a lid on the pan, after 4-5 minutes the are open.

Make the sauce:
Get the seed out 1 big  tomato, without the skinn, heat the oliveoil extra vergine in a pan again, fry 1 spring onions nicely cut,  ad the diced tomato in the oliveoil together with 2 spoons of limejuice. Til all is more softer.

Put the rasors on the plate, with the sauce over it.
Some salt, peper, basil and more limejuice if need  over it!

trees reduction

Somethimes you have to reduce the numbers of pine trees on the property.
The are growing to fast and  are to much competion for the olive trees.
And my stove need fuel for the next winter months!

spring 2017

The temperatures are high at the moment. 
The nature is at least 10 days ahead.
The grapes are waking up, the juices are streaming slowly. 
The buds are uncroping.
Now we hope that the temperature are remaining abouve the 0 deg limits, otherwise......

Vigs starting growing, ( no flowers needed!)
After the flowering in february now already young almonds visible.

The wintermonts in Catalunia the people eat Calcots. It is a spring -onion in xxl size.
Nice on the bbq with vinetrimmings. Sizzeling on the fire, and kept warm in the Spanich roof tile.
You get black vingers, but no problem, the are very nice with Romesco sauce and Spanich lam with Terra Vermella!
